Yup, college is back up and running. I have a heavy plate of stuff going on for the whole semester.

I'm in charge of the Art and Graphic Design Department Mac Lab and 3D Animation Lab. I was busy most of the summer since AX getting the lab set up. Most everything was changed and upgraded. We went from cheap old tables with a variety of Mac G5s and G4s to what it is now. Currently there are about 15 new Intel iMac workstations for students. These are not the new ones but the version out earlier this year. There are several scan stations all running on PowerPC G5s and the main instructor station is running an Intel Dual-Core G5. Getting them all set up was fun. There was also a lot of cable management going on and that took a while. The Mac Lab was finished the day before classes started. I can't say too much about the 3D Animation Lab... I was so focused and busy with the other lab that I neglected it. But then again, I only had 19 hour work weeks and I needed more hours to get everything done. None of the users were set up and still have all of the information from the spring semester... I have to get those set up before they get into some heavy usage in a couple weeks. -_-

Speaking of 3D... I've become a Teacher Assistant for two independent study classes. There are a few students doing the 3D animation degree who are almost done and ready to graduate. I'm basically helping those students out by getting them the classes they need to complete the degree. Since the program wasn't fully up and running, the upper level classes had few students taking them and didn't have enough students for them to make. I suggested making those upper level classes as independent study with a teacher from main campus. They couldn't get the paperwork done quickly enough to transfer a teacher and asked me if I wanted to fill in the position. O_O I know I wasn't qualified to do that. But, they did a roundabout way for me to "help" the students during independent study class hours where the "Teacher Assistant" would be present to help students with their lessons. I didn't know how much it would pay... They would compensate me by adding another position for me so that I would make the same amount I'm making for my Lab Specialist position. So that's two jobs this semester at $12/hr and 19 hours a week for each even though I'm not working a full 19 hours for the "Teacher Assistant" job. It's more compensation than anything by springing this on me at the last minute. ^_^ I gladly took it and wanted to help friends and students out by getting them through their degree this semester. Hopefully we can get two teachers in by next semester to breathe more life into the 3D program.

Wow, it's unreal this semester! First, I wasn't planning on working at the school because I was going to focus on game development and website work. Then I made my terms clear that if they wanted me to be back with them, they had to do $12/hr. I couldn't believe it when they accepted. Well, I was more qualified than the other people who would have replaced me and didn't have to do training. I'm on the edge of burning myself out with four jobs. Two at the school, game development and website work. Well, I'll see what happens and hopefully this extra job isn't too demanding. Plus, it gives me something good to put on my resume as being a Teacher Assistant.

If this goes well, I may help out next semester.

A few weeks ago I sent my Canon PowerShot SD100 Digital Elph in to Canon to get it fixed. It was due to a faulty CCD in manufacturing. This wasn't the same camera I used during AX... That was another camera that I borrowed. So, I get a package in the mail yesterday and it's from Canon. I was happy to get my camera back. But, upon further inspection it was a box for an SD600. I was thinking sweet, they shipped the wrong camera back to me. Then there was a letter enclosed as well stating:

"Dear Canon Customer,

Thank you for trusting Canon with your repair needs.

Due to the current lack of essential components at our repair facility, and in order to expedite your repair, we have exchanged your original equipment with a new or factory reconditioned replacement model of equal or greater value.

Blah blah blah more stuff"

It was reconditioned but then again, it looked totally brand new. New accessories and everything. But, my original SD100 was also reconditioned which I got it pretty cheap and had been working for the past 3 years. I was eventually considering an upgrade to the SD900 when the price got a little lower but the SD600 will be good enough to hold me over until then.

Oh and Naruto Box 4 just came in the mail today. Just need to finish up the last DVD from Box 3. Yes, I'm so behind... But then again, I've been busy with other things.

But then again, I'm waiting for phpBB 3.0 to go official instead of being an RC(currently up to RC3) and use Subdreamer CMS. I like the features of both but would like to see other suggestions.

Just so I could set aside some cash for it and work out my budget for food, emergency cash, and miscellaneous stuff for convention activities. Man, I want to try and get autographs from Aya Hirano, Minori Chihara and Yuko Goto... I know it'll be tough, but I would like to try! Oh and I'm doing the T-Shirt thing as well. I usually buy the convention T-Shirt in white and get as many people from the convention to sign it. AX is only a few days away!
